In order to offer the best support for parents in preparing for a child's baptism, our parish requires participation in a baptism preparation process.
This process is designed to help parents and godparents understand the Sacrament of Baptism and to offer them support in helping their child/godchild to freely live the gifts received in Baptism.It is in Sacrament of Initiation, Baptism, that one is welcomed into the Catholic community of faith. We welcome everyone who is seeking to be members of the Catholic Church.
 

Children under the age of 5

1. Parents must submit required paperwork.
The following are required in order to schedule your child's baptism.

• Complete Baptism Request Form
• Provide child's birth certificate (State Issued) with the Baptism Request Form *Copy will be made by Parish Office Staff
• Godparent(s) complete Godparent Covenant Form

Non-parishioners - If you are a registered parishioner at another parish, you must submit a letter from your pastor giving his permission for your child to be baptized at Holy Family.


2. Parents and Godparents must attend a Baptism Preparation Class.
Once the parish office has Godparent(s):

• Only one Godparent is needed.
• The Godparent(s) must be chosen by parents
• Have the ability and intention to fullfill the role of a Godparent
• Be at least 16 years of age
• Been confirmed and leading a life in harmony with the Catholic faith
• If married, they must be married by the Catholic Church.
• If two are selected, at least one must be Catholic and it must be (1) male and (1) female.
• Can not be the father or mother of child

* A baptized person who belongs to another Christian community may participate only as a "Christian Witness" provided that the other one is a Catholic Godparent who fullfills the above criteria. A non-baptized person can not be a considered a "witness". Contact office for more information if needed.

3. Scheduling the Baptism.
Once the required paperwork and proof of attending Baptism classes has been received  in the office then the baptism will be scheduled.received all the paperwork required a Baptism class will be scheduled. Holy Family holds (1) Bilingual class each month. Baptism classes at another Catholic parish are acceptable. Proof of attendance from the other parish will need to be submitted with paperwork. Parent(s) and Goparents are required to attend Baptism Preparation Classes prior to the Baptism celebration.
